Word For Singapore
by Nathan Shaw
Like a multifaceted jewel that reflects the light, God desires to display the light of His glory through Singapore. She is strategically positioned to be a light to the nations.
A strong foundational ethic and wise leadership have helped the nation to prosper, however any strength pushed too far can become a weakness. Singapore's greatest strengths are also her greatest weaknesses.
Singapore has much in common with the church of Laodicea. Although the church of Laodicea was strongly rebuked it was also given one of the most awesome promises.
To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne (Revelation 3:21).
Jesus instructed the church of Laodicea to repent because of its self-sufficiency. Instead it was to depend on the riches of God's grace.
You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent (Revelation 3:17-19).
Those who overcome the Loadicean spirit of this age will be given great kingdom authority. This spirit will be overcome by those who discover the beauty and power of intimate fellowship with God despite the busyness of life.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me (Revelation 3:20).
In recent times the message of God's grace has gone forth from Singapore and had an impact on people in many nations. This is a strategic part of God's plan. Revelation of God's grace challenges foundational strongholds to do with success and achievement. Most new emphases have at least some degree of mixture. As the message of grace is purified it will have increasing authority to establish God's kingdom rule in His church. There will be other emphases that are also strategic. Wisdom is to discern the correct place each emphasis is to have.
Singapore's destiny is to be rich in the fullness of God's grace. This will give her the strength of the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Self-sufficiency is her weakness. Dependence on God is her strength.
